“2015 was a turning point for me. I won my first EPGU (Eastern Province Golf Union) event at St Francis Bay (Eastern Cape), and ended 5th on the EP Order of Merit that season getting me into the Eastern Province team for the first time. I have been selected for Eastern Province golf since 2015 to 2021. I have won the EP Order of Merit for the past 3 seasons (2018, 2019, 2020) and currently leading the 2021-2022 season”

Golf is a true challenge, it challenges you mentally and physically, each round, each hole, it’s about how you best manage yourself around 18 holes. My passion has always been in sports. I studied sports management in 2004. I started playing golf at a young age. A lot of weekend golf with friends resulting in a 7 handicap by the age of 16. I was then given an opportunity to play professional Soccer at Port Elizabeth Technikon – golf then took a back seat while I concentrated on soccer. In 2012, I started playing golf again and a year later I was down to a scratch handicap.

I started playing Eastern Province golf amateur events in 2013 competing against the best in the province, it was a big eye opener for me to play at that level and realized I had a fair amount of work to do on my game and in many areas. At the end of 2014, I just missed out on selection for the Eastern Province golf team, ending 9th in the Order of Merit (top 8 made the team) – I learned a lot from that season.

At present, I am playing off a plus 3 handicap, with an EP tournament stroke average of 72.1, (coastal play). My current home club is Walmer Golf Club in Port Elizabeth which was founded in 1897, making it one of the oldest golf clubs in South Africa. I have been a member for the past 8 years.
