Fellow Deer (Royal port Alfred 3 July 2022)
First event of the 2022/2023 season kicked off at Royal Port Alfred fellow Deer Trophy. Chilly start to the season with a 07:30 tee time I got off to a great start with birdies on 1, 2 and 5 to turn 3 under for the front 9, made a bogey on the 12th, had a fast Finnish to round one making 4 birdies on the last 6 holes to shoot a 66 for a share of the lead.
Starting round two I knew I had to play an under par round of golf to give myself a chance to win, the wind picked up in the afternoon making the conditions a lot tougher for round 2. Played a solid front nine, one under par, after 15 holes hole I was still tied for the lead on -8 total for the day, the key was the 15th I hit my approach close and made birdie giving myself and 2 shot lead with 3 holes to play, finished the round with 3 pars for a second round score of 69, winning the tournament by one shot.
